National Trust - Alport Dale outlying Barn structural repair

We were commissioned by the National Trust in early 2019 to structurally brace an outlying barn in one of the remotest and beautiful Dale’s in the Peak District. The site has unique challenges being 2 miles up a single track farm access lane, then being on the other side the valley from the lane everything had to be ferried across by track dumper through a river to the barn, due to COVID pandemic the trust suspended works in 2020 our repair was delayed by 12 months but autumn 2021 saw us return to dismantle and repair the front wall and gable with lime mortar and structural rods.

3 weeks from start to finish saw the job completed and handed back to the cows, only 4% of outlying barns remain and the trust is committed to preserving them as they are. These outlying barns are part of a national heritage and are great heavens for wildlife.

A real pleasure to be working in such a beautiful location
